Biography

Daniel Lavin runs his own private piano studio and has been teaching since 2013. He taught private students in his first year of undergraduate school and was hired as faculty at Castro Music and Dance in Fairview NJ in 2015. Daniel has continued to maintain a private piano studio and regularly accompanies choirs and voice studios.

Daniel received his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance studying piano under Craig Ketter and voice with Mark Nicholson and also took graduate courses at St. Joseph’s Seminary Dunwoodie, Yonkers NYC in sacred music with Dr. Jennifer Donelson-Nowicka.

Most recently, Daniel attended the Sacred Music Symposium in Costa Mesa, CA directed by Jeffrey Ostrowski. That same summer, he attended the Catholic Sacred Music Project and Sacra Liturgia Conference 2022 in Menlo Park CA where he sang in the choir under Martin Baker for a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Pell and a concert for living Catholic sacred music composers.

Daniel attended the Choral Institute at Oxford in 2018 which was a partnership between Oxford University’s St. Stephens House and Westminster Choir College which offered a unique conducting experience in the city of Oxford. He also attended the Church Music Association of America’s 2019 Sacred Music Colloquium held at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia PA which focused on instruction and experience in Gregorian chant and the Catholic sacred music tradition. Daniel has also been the staff accompanist for the North Bergen School district since 2013 and has traveled to competitions and concerts with their High School chorus, including a full length concert at Bruton Parish in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
